time to buy 2 more CPUs and upgrade the other one. Thanks for the info and details I took the plunge, and am pleased to announce this is still a viable host for the latest version of ESXi. I also have the Dell-specific 6.7u1 ISO, and have just finished installing - the host is live on 6.7u1, after the installer died indicating unsupported CPU (the 5504). I upgraded BIOS, PERC firmware, and iDRAC, and have just finished upgrading my Gen1 r610 from e5504 processors to x5672 (Edited - not the e5672) processors (for a whopping $12 each, on ebay!). I'd be THRILLED if they are, $25 per CPU and I can bump four machines to support 6.7 for another year or two of life before I have to R&R with new hardware. *edit* and you're sure you went to the X5670? VMware release notes say that X56xx CPUs aren't supported. r/HomeNetworking - Simpler networking advice.Īny chance you'd be willing to let me take a peek at your system config via service tag? I've got 2 x R610s for myhome lab, E5520 and E5504 CPUs, and looking to see if I can upgrade to the X5670 you did, in order to bump my nodes to 6.7. r/pfsense - for all things pfsense ('nix firewall) Might be able to find things useful for a lab. r/hardwareswap - Used hardware, swap hardware.
